The Millennium Awards is an award ceremony that recognizes fans who've contributed to science fiction. Mr. Delee said, "I am humbled by receiving this award from the Millennium Awards committee. Over the past few years I've received numerous awards which have made me feel that my work has been honored by others." The Millennium Award was recently given out to Mr. Delee at a meeting of The National Conference on Literature for Young People held in New York City on June 2, 2004. "I nearly died when they said my name," said DeLee, who was not present at the ceremony. "I was in my office here at home, I had my back turned away from the door. The door opened, and I turned around thinking it is somebody taking care of something for me. I saw four people come through the door with a scroll that had my name on it. After that it gets kind of fuzzy." Mr. Delee has 15 published books to his credit with about ten more in editing or proofing stages according to Mr. DeLee's wife Janeen, who was also present at the ceremony. Mr. DeLee also has two collections of short stories for children, "Mr. DeLee's Books" and "The Zora La Vampira Comic Book" to his credit. His credits include "Miss Zorra", "One Hundred Years of Evil", and "Mothers Day Gift". He is also well known for his cover illustrations for the ever popular book series called "One Hundred Years of Evil". He illustrated about fifty different titles between 1990 and 1999, which featured photographs by Robert M. Lewis. Mr. DeLee explained, "One hundred years has always been my favorite topic because it deals with history, science fiction, mystery. I like to dream big and think big and when I decided to start doing the cover illustrations for the series, I said 'How can we make one hundred years better?' One of the things we did was we made it a kind of a time capsule. It is all in black and white and you look at each book in sequential order and you get a real good idea about how our country grew and changed during the last one hundred years. Another thing that makes this series unique is that I tried to do something different with each cover, so that people would pick up any book they saw on the shelf.
